Walking around Jerusalem caught some interesting photos; lizard above, and amazing muster of storks.

The most striking aspect of this tree, even more than the red fruit, is the bright red bark.

There are a number of folk lore stories how it got the Hebrew name katlav (קטלב) all related to the red colored bark.

Latin names: Arbutus andrachne, common English names: aka strawberry tree, grecian strawberry tree, cyprus strawberry tree, eastern strawberry tree, common Hebrew name: קטלב מצוי

This was an interesting challenge to take this photo from within a pitch black tunnel – using the flash for detail of the interior but still retain the reflection of the greenery in the water.

What was really neat was I did not notice the two different heights to the ceiling until I got home to review the photos!

This is taken at Nachal HaShofet – located near Ein HaShofet which is also named after Supreme Court Justice Louis D. Brandeis.

Similar to my previous post Stop bugging me, I presume this to be a dragonfly of the family Odonata: Libellulidae, Genus Sympetrum corruptum – still my best guess.

You know your addicted to your hobby when the first thing that you do when you see a spiderweb is run and grab your camera.

Had a lot of trouble getting this shot, since the auto focus would not work (it kept focusing through the web and on to the roof) and need to manually adjust. I was aiming for a shallow DOF (Depth of Field) around the center of the web and spider.

I got one partially successful  photograph of the total lunar eclipse that is still underway.

This photo was taken Sunday, March 4th, 2007 – 1:01 AM (GMT +2).
This is the first total lunar eclipse in 2½ years, next one is August 28th.

Well, it’s that time of year, and we went to Givat Hatermusim (Tel Socha in the Valley of Elah) as we did about a year ago (album) .

Below, a field of Calanit (Hebrew) = Anemone coronaria, also took some photos last year as well as a photoshop version.

The flowering of the almond tree, a sign of spring in Israel, is an uplifting view – giving hope to the coming spring and an end to winter. I think these trees are of the sweet almonds producing variety (there are two forms of the plant).

Still playing with the wide angle lens, wanted a shot that captured the endless rows of trees but at the same time gave detail to the beauty of the flowers.
